Getty Images Photographers Lauded at SJA British Sports Journalism Awards

London – 27 March 2024: Getty Images (NYSE:GETY), a preeminent global visual content creator and marketplace, celebrates the success of its photographers at the prestigious SJA British Sports Journalism Awards 2023, the oldest awards in Britain recognising excellence in the field of sports journalism.  

Justin Setterfield took home the Ed Lacey Trophy for SJA Sports Photographer of the Year, marking the fifth time in six years that a Getty Images photographer has been awarded this honour, as well as first place in the Football Portfolio. Clive Brunskill won the Phil Sheldon Trophy for Specialist Portfolio for his extensive Tennis coverage, and Ryan Pierse claimed the Sports Picture of the Year award for his stunning underwater surfing image at the Paris 2024 Olympics test event.

Getty Images’ photographers were recognised across multiple categories including:
  • Justin Setterfield – Winner, Sports Photographer of the Year (Ed Lacey Trophy) and Football Portfolio
  • Clive Brunskill – Winner, Specialist Portfolio (Phil Sheldon Trophy)
  • Ryan Pierse – Winner, Sports Picture
  • Clive Mason – Silver, Canon Portfolio and Bronze, Specialist Portfolio (Phil Sheldon Trophy)
  • Alex Pantling – Silver, Football Portfolio
  • Gareth Copley – Silver, News Picture
  • Alex Livesey – Silver, Sports Picture
  • Cameron Smith – Silver, Young Photographer
